As the Bronx turns

Smooch.

Tim Hardaway will be pleased to know that Alex Rodriguez says that he and Derek Jeter are no longer close.
"We were best of friends about 10, 13, 14, years ago, and we still get along well. We have a good working relationship. I cheer very hard for him. He cheers hard for me. And most importantly, we're both trying to win a world championship."
That's nice.
"The reality is there's been a change in the relationship over 14 years and, hopefully, we can just put it behind us. You go from sleeping over at somebody's house five days a week, and now you don't sleep over. It's just not that big of a deal."
I'm giggling.

It's spring training. There are dozens of fantastic storylines that the press can follow. However, we're subjected to a long-winded article about the friendship of two athletes that most of the country dislikes.

Wake me when they get in a fight, or get married, or something.

It's no secret that I love the Wisconsin Badgers and college basketball, so this may come off as homerish, but I was furious when I saw this story on ESPN.

Top sidebar link: Chargers hire Norv Turner. Fine lead story, NFL is kingpin of all sports, and the Chargers are one of the best teams.

Third link: OSU and Badgers are No. 1 in different polls. Great story because they play each other Sunday for, barring a shocking Big Ten tourney outcome, the top seed in the NCAA tournament. How interesting!

In between them: A-Rod has fallen out of love with Jeter. And don't tell me the sidebar isn't prioritized in order of what ESPN thinks is most newsworthy.

They have been having a lover's quarrel since 2001! Good thing Mike Piazza was nearby to be a shoulder they could cry on.

I'm mostly just amazed that this story:

Publicist: Pats' Brady is father of Moynahan's baby

is at the bottom of the sidebar. It's the Patriots! Hello, ESPN!

I think the funniest part is that A-Rod gauges the strength of a friendship based on the number of sleepovers you have per week.

Good point. No matter how good of friends I may have been with someone during my elementary years, I only slept over at his house a handful of times ever. Not a handful of times a week.

Five sleepovers a night is essentially "co-habitation."

Dammit, this has been the lead story for days on this blog. Typical media!
